Acne treatment online

Acne is one of the most common skin conditions in Australia, causing pimples, blackheads, whiteheads and sometimes deeper, painful lumps, most often on the face, chest and back. It's driven by a combination of oil production, blocked pores, bacteria and inflammation, and it affects adults as well as teenagers. Acne can leave scarring and can genuinely affect how people feel about themselves, which is reason enough to treat it properly.

How a telehealth consultation helps

Dermatology is unusually well suited to telehealth. Your Dermatologist reviews the four photos you send before your call, examines your skin history and current care, and builds a treatment plan matched to how severe your acne is and what you've already tried. Because a specialist reviews your photos before the consultation, the appointment itself is focused and efficient.

When to see a Dermatologist

If your acne is moderate to severe, is leaving marks or scars, or hasn't improved with over-the-counter products or treatment through your GP, it's worth seeing a Dermatologist. Even mild acne can scar, so persistent acne shouldn't simply be put up with.

Before your consultation: four photos

Every consultation needs four clear photos of your skin condition, emailed to us at least one hour before your appointment. Your consultation can't go ahead without them.

  • Photo 1: about 1 metre away
  • Photo 2: about 20cm away
  • Photo 3: about 5cm away
  • Photo 4: as close as your camera allows

Email them to coordinator@teledermatologist.com.au with your full name in the subject line.

A nurse, carer or family member can help you take them, or call us and we'll arrange assistance.

Common questions about acne

Yes, with good photos. That's why we ask for four photos at set distances before every consultation. Your Dermatologist reviews them before your call, which is often clearer than an in-room glance.

Book a acne consultation

Prepayment is required at booking. You'll need a referral for a Medicare rebate, but you can book without one.
