Frequently asked questions
The questions patients ask the coordinator team most.
Can't find yours? Call 02 4960 8277.
No, you can book without one. But a valid GP referral entitles you to a Medicare rebate, so most patients ask their GP for one first. It usually saves you money, and it gives your Dermatologist useful history.
Initial consultations are $310 and follow-ups $220, with Medicare rebates available when you have a GP referral. Discounted pensioner rates apply with a Pensioner or Health Care Card.
Prepayment confirms your appointment and holds your place with the Dermatologist, and it means there's nothing to settle on the day. Your Medicare rebate (where a referral is held) is paid to you after the consultation.
Your Dermatologist reviews your photos before your call. It's how a telehealth consultation achieves the detail of an in-room examination. Consultations can't go ahead without them.
Before your consultation: four photos
Every consultation needs four clear photos of your skin condition, emailed to us at least one hour before your appointment. Your consultation can't go ahead without them.
- Photo 1: about 1 metre away
- Photo 2: about 20cm away
- Photo 3: about 5cm away
- Photo 4: as close as your camera allows
Email them to coordinator@teledermatologist.com.au with your full name in the subject line.
A nurse, carer or family member can help you take them, or call us and we'll arrange assistance.
At your appointment time, join using the link we've sent you. There's no phone call beforehand. Your coordinator greets you first, checks your details and your file, then introduces your Dermatologist and the consultation begins.
You will receive your script after your appointment. Your coordinator will let you know what to expect for your particular prescription.
Plans change, and we understand. Give us at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Inside 24 hours, a $150 fee applies.
Bookings for children 12 and under need a GP referral and are assessed individually to make sure telehealth is right for them. Please submit the referral or call 02 4960 8277.
Yes. Many of our patients consult from their GP's rooms or an aged care facility with a nurse present to assist, including with taking the photos. Pensioner rates apply wherever you consult from.
Consultations take place on secure video, and your records and photos are stored in your patient record in our clinical records system. Our Privacy Policy explains how your information is collected, stored and used.
Book your consultation
Prepayment is required at booking. You'll need a referral for a Medicare rebate, but you can book without one.
