Refer a patient
Around nine in ten of our consultations begin with a GP referral, and the pathway is built for your workflow: upload the referral, and we take it from there. Your patient is usually seen within weeks by a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, and you will receive correspondence after patient consultation.
Upload a referral
Attach the referral and your patient's details. If the form is unavailable, fax to 02 4960 8288 or call 02 4960 8277.
What happens after you refer
We create a patient file the day your referral arrives.
Straightforward presentations, such as acne and psoriasis, go straight to booking: we phone your patient directly.
Complex presentations are reviewed by a Dermatologist first to confirm telehealth is clinically appropriate. Either way, we contact your patient, so you don't need to chase us.
Form not loading? Open it in a new tab or call 02 4960 8277.
In-clinic and aged care consultations
Patients can attend their consultation from your rooms or an aged care facility with a nurse present. This is a pathway we run daily, particularly for regional patients and those needing assistance. Discounted pensioner rates apply regardless of where the patient consults from.
Clinical photographs
Four images are required before every consultation:
- Photo 1 at 1 metre
- Photo 2 at 200mm
- Photo 3 at 50mm
- Photo 4 close-up, or a dermatoscope image where available
Emailed to coordinator@teledermatologist.com.au with the patient's name in the subject line, at least one hour prior.
Captured by the attending nurse for in-clinic consultations.
Usual wait
Appointments are usually available within weeks of referral.
Medicare rebates
Your referral entitles the patient to a Medicare rebate of $88.40 on initial consultations and $44.45 on follow-ups, current as at July 2026.
Correspondence
You will receive correspondence after patient consultation.
Ready to refer?
Prepayment is required at booking. You'll need a referral for a Medicare rebate, but you can book without one.
